MR.,PERCY RYAN At Orbost yesteday morning. The’late Mr. Ryan was-born in this district and received his early education here and later attended’Scotch College in Melbourne. where he inmatriculated. While at school he was an outstanding and all-round athlete. His prowess in football, cricket, gun and rifle shooting was evident for many years and the late Mr: W. J. McLean once remarked of him that he fulfilled every requirement of a Rhodes scholar. He was popular with all sections of the community, a fact which to a large extent led to his undoing. For many years he conducted and edited the”Maffra Spectator”‘ and was identified with all sporting and other organisations which tended to the advancement of that community. Of late years he has resided in Orbost, where he was engaged as a journalist. One brother (James) resides at Maffra and another (Herbert) reside sat Trafalgar. and sympathy is extended to them in their bereavement. The late Mr. Ryan married years ago but his alliance was an unhappy one and was short lived and ultimately dissolved. There were no children.
